Thoughts of the Tardis

I probably know more about Doctor Who than I should... I've only really seen one season (make that two now) and yet I've spoiled myself on quite a few plot-points from the tenth and the eleventh Doctor's adventures.
The Tardis' malfunctioning camouflage has been there from the very start, and you could say its because its broken...or as the eleventh Doctor put it:

"Everytime the TARDIS materialises in a new location, within the first nanosecond of landing, it analyses its surroundings. Calculates a 12-dimensional data map of everything in a thousand mile radius and determines which outershell would blend in best with the environment...And then it disguises itself as a police telephone box from 1963."

That just makes me think its just doing it to screw with people.

Even in Equestria where they don't seem to have traditional police. Its still a Police Box.
Then again it IS alive and sentient so I guessed its probably just very nostalgic and likes the look of a Police Box.
